Documentary "King Gesar in Maqu" finished

A large scale documentary movie "King Gesar in Maqu" has recently finished shooting, Tibetologists and experts expressed satisfactory on a preview meeting.

The "King Gesar", the longest heroic epic in the world is well known as the oriental Homer's epics and has been listed in the first set of intangible cultural heritage category of China. The place Maqu mentioned in the epic is the very Maqu and around the area at present. This area is also the heart of the region where the King Gesar used to stay. Experts has verified 77 points of cultural relics sites identical to the places and plots in the epics in the Maqu County.

The documentary is a combination of explanation, demonstration and interviews to reproduce the legendary King Gesear's whole life as well as the rich geographic resources and human environment in Maqu County. It will be on show on CCTV 10 Explore and Discovery Program in early 2009.
