Journalists from China Tibet Information Center visited Norbu Lingka in Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region on November 6.
Dubbed as "Dotey Garden" and built in 1840s, Norbu Lingka is the largest garden with the most historic sites in Tibet.
When summer came, the Dalai Lama and his party, composed of his government officials, went to Norbu Lingka for relaxation and work in the cool.
In the early 18th century, the area where Norbu Lingka is situated was a sweep of dense willow trees and ruderal. As the 7th Dalai Lama visited there often, the Qing Dynasty built a palace — Lingting Palace for him.
In 1954, the central government built the Xin Palace where there is colorful fresco for the 14th Dalai Lama.
Nowadays, with the fund from the central government, Norbu Lingka has become more attractive with 49 kinds of trees, 62 categories of flowers and 15 kinds of animals. And the common people can enjoy the scenery which only few people could see in the past.
