The maintenance project on the Ramoche Monastery in Tibet Autonomous Region is carrying on well and plans to be completed in July of 2010, local official said.
At present, the maintenance work of outside of the ritual-taking hall has been completed, the construction of main temple gate is carrying on and the 388 square meters murals inside of Sutra Hall need to be re-painted.
Ramoche Monastery, located in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, is a major temple of Tibetan Buddhism built in the seventh century, the same era when the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple were constructed.
A person in charge of this project said:"The moth-eaten crossbeams of main temple gate in Ramoche Monastery should be removed, the tilted building frame should be adjusted in the center, the inside walls should be processed with special technology to ensure no cracks appearing and no wall skin falling down, and then the faded murals should be repainted with remaining the style and contents of the original murals."
Moreover, the normal open will be kept during the renovation in order not to affect the tourists' visiting and prayers' worshiping as all the construction will be carried out during the closing time.
