Tibetan Buddhist scriptures debate for advanced degree held in Beijing

A Tibetan Buddhist scripture debate exam was on Oct. 27 held in Xihuang Temple of Beijing and will run till Oct. 31, as a part of the 5th Awarding Ceremony of Tibetan Buddhism Advanced Degree.

Eleven students with the Advanced Tibetan Buddhism College of China took part in the exam, and will continue to attend series of exams till November 1, in order to gain the advanced degree.

The students come from Tibet, Qinghai, Sichuan, Yunnan and Gansu provinces, of which, four belong to Nyingma sect, seven, Gelug sect.

Tibetan Buddhist scripture debate is a match of wisdom rather than a normal one, in which one sitting on a Tibetan rug, always answers, while the other standing with exaggerated body gestures, always asks.

The 5th Awarding Ceremony of Tibetan Buddhism Advanced Degree is set to open on November 2.
