Tibetan film 'The Search' shown on movie forum

Wanma Caidan (L) is talking with audience after his film "The Search" was shown, photo from China Tibet Information Center on November 5.

The Tibetan film "The search", directed by Wanma Caidan, a famous Tibetan director on Thursday was shown on the Fourth Forum on Youth Generation in Film Making, which was held in Jinji Baihua Theatre in Beijing.

As the second Tibetan film directed by Wanma Caidan, "The search" focuses on a story of a filming crew on the road of searching actors and actresses for Prince Drimed Kunden and Princess Mande Zangmo.

On their searching road, the guide, a self-employed boss, told about his love story which touched everybody and made the candidate for the heroine who was disappointed in love finally got her idea about love.

Wanma Caidan told the journalist, the inspiration of the film borrowed from their love story when the crew was selecting actors for the Silent Holy Stone, the first Tibetan film of Wanma. "It is very interesting and romantic."
The inheritance and development of Tibetan opera also takes a big part in the film. When watching the performance of Tibetan opera in the film, a Tibetan woman from Qinghai can’t help weeping:"All of these scenes remind me of my hometown and my childhood. It is real-life and touching."

Mrs. Chen from Haidian District of Beijing said:"The film gives priority to panaroma and medium shot, which is quite different from ordinary ones, but there is no barrier for me to understand."

"It has an artless charm, natural and genuine, for both the words and characters, just like a friend telling you a story," she added.

Hiring non-professional actors and actresses, the director Wanma Caidan said he hoped that actors he has employed in this film can transmit information distinctive from others in given situation.

"It is a seductive beauty," one of the audience bolted out when watching the film. The film is also an expression of traditional Tibetan aesthetic appreciation.

"I think, it is an ideal way for the audience themselves to find out the real meaning of the film, rather than I impose," Wanma Caidan said. "Different people have different feelings toward the film."
