New life for resettled Tibetan herders

Picture taken on Nov. 22, 2009, shows a Tibetan woman of the New Guantang Village, Guide County, northwest China's Qinghai Province, using a government-supplied solar cooker. Since construction of the Longyangxia Hydropower Station got started in 2006, more than 500 herders from Guantang Village, Guinan County, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northeast China's Qinghai Province, have moved and resettled in Guide, Guinan's neighboring county. Thanks to the government's preferential policies, the herders now live in new free houses and enjoy better medical care as well as educational conditions, photo from Xinhua.
