Afforestation projects carry on well in Tibet

The total area of afforestation reached to over 700,000 mu in Tibet in 2009, according to Tibet's Bureau of Forestry.

Tibet's work of controlling water loss and soil erosion, improving forest resources and increasing herdsmen and farmers' income has achieved remarkable results.

In 2009, a total area of afforestation area reached 742,800 mu, with an increase of 62.9 percent. A series of active policies such as protecting natural forests, returning farmland to forest, forest ecological compensation help Tibetan farmers and herdsmen increase their income 650 million yuan.

At present, the wetlands and forest in Tibet are under good protection.
