By far, there are 17 medical institutions of Tibetan medicine including 1 regional hospital, 6 prefecture-level ones and 10 county-level ones, with 601 beds and 1,850 doctors of Tibetan medicine including 1,422 professors and 660 folk doctors, which means per thousand patients possess 0.22 bed and 0.55 professor on average, according to the statistics from TAR Department of Health.

Stepping with the extension of Tibetan medicine market, the industry of Tibetan medicine has become one of the important pillar industries in Tibet.

The statisitics from TAR Statistical Bureau show the production value of the industry of Tibetan medicine riched 574 mln yuan in the last year, up 1.7% from that of the previous year and 1,039 ton Tibetan medicine was produced in the last year, adding 5.2% to that of the previous year.

Additionally, as one of national principal scientifical subjects in 11th Five Year period, "Research & Experiment on Key Technologies of Tibet Medicine" has gained 17.57 mln yuan and is expected to finish in 2009.
