China Tibet 1st Traditional Ethnic Medicine Summit Forum was on September 20 held in Lhasa, capital city of Tibet, giving more emphasises to and offering help to the development of traditional Tibetan medicine.

With good quality and effective effect, Tibetan medicine enjoys a wide popularity all around the world. The opening of the forum even brings a hotter market to Tibetan medicine.

"Tibetan medicine takes up 80 per cent of our total postal packages," said the letter carrier Yangdzom.

History has witnessed the development of Tibetan medicine. It has been developing better than ever with well protection, thus winning positive public praise home and abroad.

"Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, Tibetan medicine has made a big stride forward," said head of the Tibetan Medicine Hospital of Tibet Dradul in the summit forum.

Now, Tibet has 18 medical institutions, more than 2,000 medical professionals and the number of professional talents is increasing while the medical level is improving.

To support the development of Tibetan medicine and train more talents, some 100 million yuan has been respectively allocated from the central government and Tibet local government and five new Tibetan medicine scientific payoffs have already put into operation, Xinhua News Agency reported.

As one of the pillar industries in Tibet, Tibetan medicine manufacturing industry has attracted 660 million yuan in 2007.
