As one of the "Three Cultural Relics" repair campaign, maintenance of the Sakya Monastery has mostly completed, and is expected to see full completion at the end of the year.

Built in 1073, the Sakya Monastery is the seat of the Sakya Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Seated in Sakya County of Xigaze Prefecture in southwestern Tibet, Sakya Monastery keeps a large amount of cultural relics and sutras.
Since 2002, the central government has pumped altogether more than 90 million yuan upon the renovation of the monastery on its fresco, ground floor of the courtyard, the main hall, the walls and the sutra wall, etc.
